My first encounter with textiles happened in 1989. Since that time they've never ceased to amaze and fascinate me. Being a painter, I work with pieces of fabric as if they were brushstrokes, presenting visual effects of light an depth, creating layers of semi transparent, burnt, dyed or painted materials. I manipulate cotton and sheer organza fabrics, add embellishments, invent textures to achieve the desired effect and convey my message to the viewer. The artistic idea is the starting point for my work. I always make a detailed sketch based on my drawings and photographs still its implementation demands complete devotion and concentration, long hours of seclusion in my workroom. I feel privileged to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world- Saint-Petersburg. It has both splendour and poetry and an infinite source for inspiration for any artist. Took part in different exhibitions, contests and festivals with interiors and quilts in Russia, Canada, France, Great Britain, USA, Japan, Finland, Hungary. The works are in private collections in Russia, Germany, Finland, Canada.
